King County Metro Transit
A longtime leader in actively promoting and fostering the
link between bicycling and public transportation, King County
Metro Transit was the first in the nation to implement the
current bus bike rack system that is now used by more than
400 transportation companies throughout the country. Currently,
all of the buses in King County Metro’s system are fitted
with a two-rack unit and the agency provides a network of
bicycle lockers at its park-and-ride lots, as well as at several
transit centers and freeway flyer stops. Metro also operates
the largest Vanpool commute program in the nation, and those
vehicles are equipped with bike racks upon request.

City of Seattle
Seattle residents have a vision for the future of the city:
vibrant neighborhoods, a healthy environment and a strong,
secure economy. The City has made significant commitments
to bicycling and transit so it’s not surprising that
36% of Seattle's 520,000 residents engage in recreational
bicycling and more than 6,000 people commute daily. Transit
provisions aim for convenient, frequent, reliable, competitive
transit service, and an aggressive goal of doubling ridership
in the city by 2010. The goal is to ensure that Seattle remains
a leader in livability.
